Masonite International expands in Bamberg County

The maker of residential and commercial doors plans to invest $14 million to expand its production operations. The company expects it will add 159 jobs by the time the new technology is fully installed. The expansion is expected to be operational by early 2013.

Sonoco posts 8.8% decline in Q2 net income

The global packaging company based in Hartsville said net income dropped in the second quarter to $53.7 million from $58.9 million a year earlier. Second-quarter sales reached a record $1.13 billion, up 12% from $1.01 billion in the second quarter of 2010.

DMV employee indicted over fake driver’s licenses

Brenda Poston of Florence has been indicted by a federal grand jury on five counts that she issued fraudulent driver’s licenses and obtained a fraudulent Social Security number for a driver’s license.

Construction begins on green community in Columbia

Downtown landlords trim rents, offer deals

In its second-quarter 2011 office market report, Grubb & Ellis Wilson Kibler said the recession has caused office leasing rates to fall to their lowest levels since 2007. The company forecasts expansion among small tenants and flat lease rates.
