First Citizens acquires operations of Charleston bank

Columbia-based First Citizens acquired the operations of Atlantic Bank & Trust, which federal regulators closed on Friday. The bank, founded in 2007, had been operating under a special regulatory order since January. The acquisition gives First Citizens a presence in the Savannah area for the first time.

CT&T might suspend plans for Spartanburg car plant

The South Korean manufacturer of electric cars and golf carts might have suspended plans to build a plant in Duncan as a result of financial problems. The Spartanburg assembly and distribution center was set to create about 370 jobs and make a $21 million investment.

Judge: Pharmaceutical company must pay S.C. $327M

A Spartanburg County judge ordered a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson Inc. on Friday to pay $327 million to the state of South Carolina for deceptive marketing of an antipsychotic drug.

City of Columbia breaks ground on new garage

The 532-car, six-story garage at the southwest corner of Taylor and Sumter streets will include a built-in bus shelter, a commercial area, bicycle racks and electric vehicle charging stations.
