Carolinas AGC construction barometer down 0.8%

Slightly stronger business conditions observed across the first quarter of 2011 were offset by falling contractor expectations about future business conditions, coupled with rising wholesale prices.

House makes short work of capital reserve fund veto

By a vote of 112-1, the House overrode Gov. Nikki Haley’s veto of $107 million in capital reserve fund spending. It still must vote on 34 other budget vetoes, which total $105 million.

Midlands Tech CFO to lead higher education group

Ronald L. Rhames, the college’s senior vice president for business affairs was elected president of the Southern Association of College and University Business Officers.

SCRA partners with InnoMobility conference

Columbia-based SCRA is the newest anchor partner of Greenville’s InnoMobility 2011 Global Conference. The conference will be in Greenville from Oct. 18 to 19 at the TD Convention Center.

S.C. to receive $33M for community development

The state will use the money to build affordable housing across the state, including in Sumter County, the city of Sumter and Lexington County. It will also be used to help find homes for the homeless and provide housing for people with AIDS.

Massage Envy leases third Columbia location

The massage chain has leased its third location in the Midlands and aims to open in the Village at Sandhill in August. The location will be the chain’s first in Columbia to also offer facials.
