BlueCross Foundation gives funding to 11 clinics

The Free Medical Clinic of Columbia, serving the uninsured in South Carolina, will receive a portion of the $273,284 from the BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Foundation in its latest round of grants.

Delta adds seats, lowers fares to compete in Columbia

The company is using bigger jets to reduce fuel costs and better serve customers flying out of Columbia Metropolitan Airport, Atlanta-based Delta said. But the world’s largest airline said it was restricted about commenting on fares.

Governor to approve illegal immigration bill

Gov. Nikki Haley plans to sign the bill into law today. The new law will require employers to participate in the federal E-Verify system to ensure newly hired people are in the United States legally.

Haley named Indian magazine’s Person of the Year

South Carolina’s first Indian-American and first female governor, and the country’s youngest, accepted the award via video from the Paris Air Show.

Boeing makes Dreamliner debut

The 787 Dreamliner eased to a stop in front of the doors to North Charleston’s final assembly and delivery plant for its Lowcountry debut. Boeing employees gathered by metal gates to see the plane arrive from Berlin and, before that, the Paris Air Show. They cheered and snapped pictures. Jack Jones, president of Boeing South Carolina, said the company promised a plane, “and here it is."
