Ultrasound Congress hosts 400 in Columbia

Dr. Richard Hoppmann, dean of the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, said the event, which brought in leaders from the major ultrasound organizations as well as the World Health Organization, marked a major opportunity for Columbia to demonstrate a growing concentration of expertise in ultrasound.

State suspends business license under immigration law

For the first time since enforcement of the 2008 S.C. Illegal Immigration Reform Act began, the S.C. Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation has suspended the operations of a restaurant found to be in violation.

 

Doctors Care, Progressive Therapy open in Newberry

The UCI Medical Affiliates companies have opened their newest center at 1410 Wilson Road in Newberry. The clinics will offer rehabilitative services, including physical therapy, industrial medicine, sports training and rehabilitation and occupational therapy.

S.C. State to increase tuition by 4%

The increase will equal an additional $180 per semester that must be paid by in-state students, for a total tuition of $4,629 per semester. Out-of-state students will pay $9,085 per semester, an increase of $350 from the previous academic year.

Palmetto Bank posts $6.1 million loss

Greenville-based Palmetto Banchshares Inc. posted its eighth consecutive quarterly loss in the first quarter. But CEO Samuel L. Erwin said the depressed commercial market is starting to stabilize.
