USC kicks off major ultrasound conference Friday

Medical experts, researchers and manufacturers from more than 20 countries will attend the first international congress on ultrasound technology that begins Friday in Columbia.

Interstate Container adds facility in Lexington County

The containerboard supplier will invest more than $13 million to establish a manufacturing plant in Lexington County and aims to add 60 new jobs, state and local officials said.

SCANA posts slight profit increase in Q1

SCANA Corp. announced first-quarter earnings of $128 million, a slight increase over its year-ago first-quarter profit of $127 million.

Southern First posts profitable first quarter

Greenville-based Southern First Bancshares Inc. on Tuesday reported a $530,000 swing in its first quarter financials from 2010 to 2011. The holding company of Greenville First and Southern First banks has now reported three straight quarterly profits.

US Development offers lofts above Mast General Store

S.C. Hospitality Association locates on Main Street

The South Carolina Hospitality Association is relocating to the corner of Main and Lady streets in downtown Columbia. The association was previously located in Columbia’s Congaree Vista.

Job of the Week

Trident Technical College is hiring an occupational therapy assistant and academic program director in Charleston. The job requires a master’s degree in a related field plus certification as an occupational therapist or occupational therapist assistant, with S.C. licensure or the ability to obtain it.
