Sonoco, a Hartsville-based packaging company, announced it will acquire Tegrant Corp., a maker of highly engineered protective, temperature-assured and retail security packaging products, from Metalmark Capital for $550 million in cash.
The center, which will include an endowed chair and associated faculty, will work with the state’s nuclear industry and the Savannah River National Laboratory.
The Business Services Review Task Force, a partnership between the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce, the City of Columbia and Richland County to establish a more business friendly environment in the Midlands, will hold a community forum on Oct. 17.
Barbara Barton represented the Chapter 11 trustee in the $12.8 million deal, saving some 300 jobs at the Greenwood company.
Newberry County Economic Development received an honorable mention for excellence in economic development for their aerospace brochure in the category of special purpose brochure for communities with populations of 25,000 – 200,000 from the International Economic Development Council.
