NRC to issue licenses in 10 days for V.C. Summer project

Licenses to build and operate two Westinghouse AP1000 reactor units, adjacent to an existing unit at the V.C. Summer Nuclear Station in Fairfield County, are only the second to be issued by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in a generation.

Michelin tops J.D. Power customer satisfaction survey

Michelin, which has its North America headquarters in South Carolina, ranked highest in customer satisfaction in three segments in the J.D. Power and Associates Original Equipment Tire Customer Satisfaction Study. Bridgestone and Continental were also ranked among the top major tire brands in the survey.

Anderson joins Colliers International as IT chief

Ron Anderson will be responsible for management of Colliers International’s delivery platform to the staff and clients, which includes information technology, integrated systems, databases, internal project management and quality control.

Statewide unemployment rate drops slightly in February

South Carolina’s jobless rate fell to 9.1% in February, a 0.2 percentage point decrease from January, the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce reported. The number surpasses the lowest unemployment has been in the state since December 2008.

US Foods acquires Sparta Imports of Columbia

Members of Sparta’s sales and procurement team will join US Foods. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Sparta Imports provides Greek and Mediterranean specialty products.
