The Arsenal Hill Neighborhood in Columbia, South Carolina was the site of an arsenal during the Civil War.  Located here is the Governor’s Mansion which is what remains of the Arsenal Academy (a military school) that was burned in 1865 when Columbia was burned.  This neighborhood in downtown Columbia, SC is located between Elmwood Drive, Assembly Street, Taylor Street, and Huger Street and encompasses the fabulous Finley Park.  Residents of this neighborhood have easy access to I-26 by way of Elmwood Drive to I-126 placing residents less than 3 hours from Charleston, SC, Greenville, SC, and Asheville, NC.  Take Bull Street to Hwy. 277 and connect with I-20 which can get residents to Myrtle Beach, SC in about 3 hours or Atlanta, GA in about 4 hours.  Continue on Hwy. 277 and run into I-77 putting residents less than 2 hours from Charlotte, NC.  No matter where it is you wish to go, living in Arsenal Hill can put you with easy access to anywhere in the State or beyond.

Living in Arsenal Hill places residents within walking distance of just about any leisurely activity there is in the downtown Columbia, SC area.  These include a variety of shopping and dining venues, several museums, several theaters, numerous hiking trails, and several rivers on which to canoe or kayak.  The well renowned Riverbanks Zoo and Botanical Gardens is also just a 5 minute drive away.   Additionally, Columbia has a large variety of nightlife options for adults of all ages, including the Vista and also the Five Points area just a few miles away.  During the warmers months, there are several weekly outdoor concerts in the area to include one at the neighborhoods own Finlay Park, a 14 acre park on the edge of Arsenal Hill.  Here residents can go for a walk or jog, cool off in the spray of the beautiful fountain, swing in one of the many swings, or play Frisbee on the huge grassy lawn.  On the higher end of the park, residents can get a fabulous view of downtown Columbia, SC, especially after dark.  No matter what it is you enjoying doing, living in Arsenal Hill puts residents just a “stone’s throw” away from just about any activity imaginable.
